Bringing the stories of our esports players and coaches out into the world, and a creating a community and source of reliable information they can rely on.

PlayVS Blog

While most stories lived on various social platforms, the PlayVS blog housed all of the content collectively. From information around game strategies, to coach, player, and team features, and guides to mental and physical health there was a large variety of content.

I developed a flexible template system for hero and social imagery depending on which assets we would receive and the different context.


I developed the branding around this social franchise, which featured our PlayVS players who had gone from High School to College with an esports scholarship.

The series helped highlight the benefits of esports, and shine a spotlight on different career paths in S.T.E.M.

As part of our partnership with EA and Madden NFL, we featured a variety of High School players through videos and interviews which lived on social and on our blog.

I developed another template system that could utilize different elements depending on the content received.

Some players without significant statistics would be featured as a quote and potentially without photography.

Community Roundup

One of our longest email series, started in mid 2021, and continuing to this day has reached it’s 50th issue. It’s maintained a roughly 40% unique open rate and serves as a weekly (usually) update for coaches about stories and news from around the PlayVS Community. It’s served as a great way to highlight upcoming events, school and player profiles and important information we need to get across to our users.

Coach Notes

This weekly communication serves as the purely informational resource for esports coaches around league changes and updates during the Fall and Spring seasons.

Previously a text based email, I updated the visuals and branding in early 2022 to give it more excitement, with animations and clearer hierarchy/layout. I also improved the light/dark functionality. We saw the unique open rate improve to roughly 44% in recent months.
