Founded in 2021, PlayVS Cup is the culmination of two seasons (Fall & Spring) of esports, where the best competition from across the country compete for the ultimate bragging rights and some crazy scholarship money.

Awareness

Since the participants for the competition span across an entire school year, most of our upfront work is through email communications, letting coaches and students know about the impending competition and what's on the line at the end of the year. This involves working cross functionally to ensure all the information is accurate and timely.

Throughout the year we'll inform them about:

• Which game titles are participating

• How much is at stake (scholarships) - plus a really cool and expensive trophy

• When all of this is going down

• What they need to do to qualify

• And much more...

Social Content

We'll put some spend behind paid advertisements to build the hype and help drive attention to the upcoming tournament and create static posts to help build awareness. Once we're closer to the tournament date, informational posts about live broadcasts and the following winners are also created to help build excitement around the event.

Broadcast

I worked with an agency to help build out a motion package for the broadcast graphics, and the template was adaptable enough to be reused for the regular season championships with a shift in the color scheme away from the gold.

Updates

For 2022 I spearheaded the initiative to update the logo and branding around PlayVS Cup to further up-level the premium tournament feel. I leaned into a more "sports heritage" feel for the emblem, which was now in a more universal square size for easier use across channels.
